SmILE biomechanically more solid than flap-based laser surgery

SmILE provides a biomechanically more solid residual cornea than flap-based approaches.

SmILE more solid than flap-based refractive laser surgery: this recently published research, spearheaded by Walter Sekundo from Germany, shows for the first time that SmILE indeed is biomechanically more solid than flap-based refractive laser surgery approaches. All previous publications were based on mathematical calculations rather than on measured data. The laser treatments were performed at the University of Marburg, whereas the biomechanical measurements took place at our research laboratory in Zurich.
