Is pulsed Cross-Linking neccessary?
After our group showed in 2013 that oxygen is essential for cross-linking, the industry has responded by developing devices with pulsed light. The idea behind this is that in the phase in which the UV light is off, the cornea can re-oxygenate itself. Our research group from ELZA has been able to show in several publications that this pulsed light has no clinical advantage. At the moment we do not use pulsed cross-linking.
