The most common issue after enucleation / evisceration is that, despite prior in-depth discussion, a patient has unrealistic expectations of the end result. We can improve the cosmetic aspect significantly, but the end result will not reach the level of perfection your natural eye previously had.
A rare complication is protrusion of the implant: in this case, the implant works forward and can pierce the conjunctival pouch. If this happens, we need to reopen the conjunctival pouch to insert a smaller diameter implant.
