Ao longo dos anos, a sua investiga\u00e7\u00e3o passou da retina para a c\u00f3rnea. Em 2003, Hafezi estava a fazer progressos na liga\u00e7\u00e3o cruzada do colag\u00e9nio da c\u00f3rnea (CXL) e na cirurgia refractiva avan\u00e7ada a laser. O seu trabalho na liga\u00e7\u00e3o cruzada do colag\u00e9nio da c\u00f3rnea, em particular, foi notado pela sua contribui\u00e7\u00e3o para o tratamento do ceratocone, da degenera\u00e7\u00e3o marginal pel\u00facida e da ectasia p\u00f3s-LASIK.<\/p>\n<p>O seu grupo de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o na Universidade de Zurique concentra-se em:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A estrutura e a fun\u00e7\u00e3o da c\u00f3rnea a n\u00edvel molecular.<\/li>\n<li>Biologia celular da c\u00f3rnea.<\/li>\n<li>Investiga\u00e7\u00e3o translacional para melhorar as t\u00e9cnicas de cirurgia refractiva a laser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Para al\u00e9m destas realiza\u00e7\u00f5es, Hafezi fez contribui\u00e7\u00f5es significativas para v\u00e1rias revistas cient\u00edficas revistas por pares. O seu trabalho em reticula\u00e7\u00e3o de colag\u00e9nio da c\u00f3rnea foi reconhecido com v\u00e1rios pr\u00e9mios internacionais. Em v\u00e1rios anos, incluindo 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 e 2023, foi classificado entre as 100 figuras mais influentes da oftalmologia.<\/p>\n<p>As afilia\u00e7\u00f5es do Prof. Hafezi estendem-se para al\u00e9m da NYU Grossman. \u00c9 professor de oftalmologia na Universidade de Genebra, professor cl\u00ednico adjunto na Keck School of Medicine, Universidade do Sul da Calif\u00f3rnia, e l\u00edder de um grupo de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o na Universidade de Zurique, entre outras fun\u00e7\u00f5es.<br><br><b>Um olhar sobre os primeiros tempos<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Depois de se mudar para a Su\u00ed\u00e7a em 1981, Hafezi prosseguiu os seus estudos em Friburgo e Berna, o que lhe permitiu obter o doutoramento. Durante a sua estadia no Hospital Universit\u00e1rio de Zurique, identificou o gene c-Fos relacionado com a degeneresc\u00eancia apopt\u00f3tica da retina induzida pela luz.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Cross-Linking da c\u00f3rnea e o seu impacto<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>A transi\u00e7\u00e3o de Hafezi para o estudo da c\u00f3rnea em 2002 marcou uma mudan\u00e7a not\u00e1vel na sua carreira. O seu envolvimento na liga\u00e7\u00e3o cruzada do colag\u00e9nio da c\u00f3rnea (CXL) contribuiu para a sua aplica\u00e7\u00e3o no tratamento do ceratocone. Desde ent\u00e3o, esta t\u00e9cnica reduziu a necessidade de transplante de c\u00f3rnea em muitos casos.<\/p>\n<p>A dedica\u00e7\u00e3o de Hafezi ao CXL levou \u00e0 sua adapta\u00e7\u00e3o a v\u00e1rias condi\u00e7\u00f5es e estabeleceu-o como um recurso no campo da ectasia da c\u00f3rnea e do ceratocone.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Reconhecimentos e Associa\u00e7\u00f5es Profissionais<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>O empenho de Hafezi na oftalmologia foi reconhecido com pr\u00e9mios como o Keratoconus Global Award, o Carl Camras Award para investiga\u00e7\u00e3o translacional e o Casebeer Award. \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m membro da ARVO, ESCRS, EUCornea, AAO e SOG.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
