ELZA Specialist Dr Dion Paridaens Elected President of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) in Naples
On September 16, 2023, Dr. Dion Paridaens, a distinguished colleague of the ELZA Institute, succeeded his Swedish counterpart, Eva Dafgard Kopp, as President of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS). He will hold this prestigious position for two years, followed by an additional year as Past-President within the ESOPRS board. ESOPRS is dedicated to advancing the education and training of specialized ophthalmologists and oculoplastic surgeons, boasting a membership of hundreds of European professionals and a global reach.
The organization’s annual meeting, which has recently drawn approximately 800 attendees from around the world, serves as a platform for knowledge exchange. Furthermore, ESOPRS offers young specialists the opportunity to take a sub-specialist European (EBO-ESOPRS) exam, facilitated by ESOPRS directors, including Dr. Paridaens. In anticipation of this, they have prepared the release of the “ESOPRS Textbook on Oculoplastic, Lacrimal & Orbital Surgery” in November 2023.
In his capacity as President, Dr. Paridaens will represent ESOPRS at annual conferences held by sister associations across continents, including America and Asia, as well as engage in educational webinars.
Dr. Paridaens divides his professional activities between ELZA in Zurich and roles in Rotterdam at the Rotterdam Eye Hospital and Erasmus MC. He is slated to host the 42nd Annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Rotterdam from September 12-14, 2024; for more details, please visit www.esoprs.eu.
