The most recent issue of the journal, International Glaucoma Review, examined the contributions and impact of all glacucoma physicians worldwide, and ELZAâs consultant surgeon, Prof. Kaweh Mansouri, ranked in the top 20.
In terms of the methodology, the International Glaucoma Review utilized both Expertscape e Google Scholar in their evaluations of all published authors in the field of glaucoma. Expertscape, a medical publication analytics company, scans the past ten years of PubMedâs medical journal articles to rank individuals in various medical disciplines. This platform assigns scores based on the publication date of the article, its type, the journal’s reputation, and the position of the author â with the first author typically scoring higher. Accordingly, Prof. Mansouri’s high standing – the second highest in Europe – indicates consistent contributions to the field.
In addition, a Google Scholar search on ‘Glaucoma’ for each top-performing Expertscape author resulted in an âOnly Glaucomaâ h-index. Though this metric doesn’t always align with the Expertscape rankings, it offers an additional perspective on a researcher’s impact.
With Prof. Mansouri previously being recognized in the top 0.033% of all glaucoma experts worldwide by Expertscape, this new acknowledgment from the International Glaucoma Review adds to his list of accomplishments. His research has contributed to the understanding of glaucoma and has been valuable to the medical community.
