We are thrilled to announce that Léonard Kollros, MSc, our Lead Optometrist at the ELZA Institute, Dietikon, Zurich, has been conferred the notable title of Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS). This FSLS distinction underscores Léonard’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the domain of corneal care, particularly through the utilization of scleral lenses in managing keratoconus.
With over six years of experience in fitting scleral lenses, Léonard has honed his proficiency in adapting these specialized lenses for individuals with corneal irregularities. His expertise is particularly pronounced in keratoconus cases, where the adaptation of scleral lenses plays a critical role in improving visual acuity and comfort.
In 2023, Léonard further contributed to the field by authoring a pivotal article titled “Scleral contact lenses fitted to extremely steep corneas,” which delves into the use of scleral lenses for managing extreme keratoconus. His insights have not only enriched the scientific community but also provided practical solutions for improving patient care.

Léonard’s devotion to advancing the knowledge and application of scleral lens technology has led him to the stage of numerous conferences both in Switzerland and internationally. His presentations continually shed light on the transformative impact of scleral lenses in addressing challenging corneal conditions.

About Léonard Kollros
Léonard Kollros, is proficient in French, German, and English. He embarked on his optometry journey in 2011, garnering accolades during his Bachelor’s degree in 2017, and his Masters’ degree in 2021. Since 2020, he’s been an integral SBAO/SSSO board member, orchestrating congresses and webinars with Swiss specialists. Specializing in fitting lenses for irregular corneas, Léo has worked with ELZA’s medical director, Prof. Farhad Hafezi since 2017, substantially enriching his expertise in the field.
