With the number of COVID-19 cases rising again in Switzerland, it is worth restating the measures ELZA is taking to combat COVID-19 in the clinic and protect everyone – patients and staff alike – from the threat this virus poses.
The first thing you will notice as you enter the clinic is the alcohol handwash, the Perspex screen at reception, and the fact that everyone is wearing masks. If you do not already have one, we will give you a disposable surgical mask to wear.
The next measure is distancing. Chairs are spaced apart by two metres in the waiting areas, and unless an eye exam is taking place, these distancing measures will be maintained. However, sometimes we need to get a little closer to check your eyes. When this is the case, the instrument have a Perspex protective barrier to provide two-way protection. Further, all surfaces are wiped down with clinical-grade sterilization fluid (the best stuff!). If you are undergoing a surgical procedure, then you can rest assured that the combination of surgical disinfection processes, masks and protective equipment all combine to give you the cleanest and safest possible environment you can get in a clinic.
There is another form of distancing that we have implemented: time distancing. We offer extended examination slots (so there is a longer gap between patients) and off-peak appointments of patients in risk groups. It is fair to say that we have taken every step possible to minimize the risk of COVID in the clinic.
These measures are to protect us as well as you. But they also mean that ELZA can continue to offer important and essential medical services during these troubled times. By following best practice: masks, sterilization, distancing and protection, you can be certain that ELZA is one of the safest places to be.
